In the film Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Philip Noyce, it portrays how the Aborigines were treated during 1930s in Jigalong, Western Australia. The Visual techniques that the director used to show that it was during 1930s were costumes and setting. The costume that were used were big and detailed dresses for women who were in the Upper Class and suit wore by men that were also in the Upper Class which nowadays, we don't often use them as a casual clothing. As for the setting, the place in the city, where Mr Neville works the things that were in, were all Antiques. I mean by this, they were old looking for example old and big telephones, the photos that were showed in Mr Neville's presentation were in Black and White and from the outside old looking cars.
Aborigines were treated badly as they were empowered by the white people (Europeans). Half-caste children were taken away from their mothers. Half-caste children are half white and half Aborigine, in other words they have a white father and an Aborigine mother. The main protagonists consists of 4 characters, they are Molly Craig, Daisy Craig, Gracie Fields and Mr Neville. They are the main protagonist because they play a big important role in this film.

The first 3 main protagonists which they are (from Right to Left) Molly Craig, Daisy Craig and Gracie Fields. They play an important role as because this film is based on a true story about them. However, Molly Craig is the oldest out of them. She took good care of her sibling Daisy and the other Gracie as like her own sibling and she tells the story about their lives and sufferings during that time. These 3 girls are all Half-caste children. As Aborigines were the "Unwanted Generation" or "Stolen Generation", the Government tries to get rid of the Aborigines by getting all the Half-caste and then puts them in one place. These characteristics were shown in their costumes, setting and their dialogue. For the costumes of the 3 girls, it showed that they've suffered a lot in their lives by having a dirty dull coloured clothing, no shoes were wore and by having their hair looked dry and messy which showed that they were always exposed to the sun. Also this was show in the setting they were in, the place they live in was more likely an outdoor camping place. They don't have a proper or stable home. Lastly, their dialogue, as you can see in the third photo Mr Neville's worker who is dress in a Police costume alike is holding a paper that Mr Neville has found 3 Half-caste children and the Police has to get them. Then after the Police said that, the mother said "NO!, GIVE ME MY KIDS!, while crying. These evidences shows that they are in the lower class and empowered by the Government.

Mr Neville who is from the Government, he's workers takes them away from their Aborigine mother. He is responsible of getting rid of the Aborigine's Generation in the future. This shows through, costumes, setting and dialogue.
In the video provided, in 0:00 - 1:15. This scene shows that Mr Neville controls and tries to maintain the law of taking half-caste by keeping updated who are found by his workers. The scene from 1:20-3:13 shows Mr Neville believes that taking half-castes children away from their Aborigine mothers, would let them the Government (White Europeans) control of getting rid of the Aborigine Generation or in other words "The Unwanted Generation". They would look at this based on their skin colour. Moreover, he also explained that if a person wants to marry an Aborigine, he would still be the one who needs to granted it in the end because he is the Chief Protection of the Aborigines. Then he introduced the Moore River Native Settlement, where Half-Castes that were found by Mr Neville would settle and taught by European Nuns how to act like a White Person. The point of view of the White people audiences in that scene, is that its good that the Government to do this to help this generation. As you can see in the scenes in the video, the director used visual and verbal techniques. The Visual techniques that were used, were costumes and setting. For costumes, compare to the Aborigines, Mr Neville was neatly dress with a black and white clean suit and his hair was neatly combed and the women as the audience were also neatly dress. The place was set in an office which shows that he works for the Government. The Verbal technique that was used was dialogue, when Mr Neville said "Half-caste children have been gathered up and brought here (Moore River Native Settlement) to give them the benefit of everything our culture has to offer. For if we are to fit and train such children for the future, they cannot be left as they are, and in spite of himself, the native must be helped....... If only they would understand what we are trying to do for them". This shows that he tries to control all of the Half-caste children, and wants to get rid of the "Stolen Generation" by training them to act like a white person.
